One of Arbroath's many claims to fame is the Arbroath Abbey. Founded for monks of the order of Tiron in 1178, this is the abbot's house, most of which dates from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. This building has survived because it was put to a variety of uses after the Reformation.
